GROUP-ANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
I am passionate about the opportunities offered by group psychotherapy. I see it as an alternative to individual therapy, although some people choose to do both. Group psychotherapy offers unique possibilities and challenges and is generally more economical than working individually.
I conduct two ongoing psychotherapy groups in Grey Lynn, Auckland. The group on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm has been meeting since May 2007. The Tuesday group started September 2010 and meets from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
The Wednesday group is “slow-open”, so it is not possible to join or leave from 15th October to 15th March. The Tuesday group has no closed period. However in both groups newcomers commit to a minimum of twelve evenings, and if someone decides to leave they are asked to attend four more times to allow for an appropriate transition.
The joining process from first contact takes about two weeks for the Tuesday group and about a month for the Wednesday group.
Admission to the groups is by individual interview and they are limited to eight participants. Both groups are mixed with a balance of both genders. The initial cost is $360.00 for the first twelve evenings and after that the ongoing cost is $140 per month by automatic payment.
